this is a kinda old song by britney spears, but recently i found out this meaning all by myself.
so let's evaluate the lyrics. first of all, let's talk about the song. well. its found in Britney Spears' sixth album, Circus which recieved mostly positive reviews. its the third single released from the album. anyways, i think this song is about how the media and the world sees britney. like fans and their perspective to britney. now, we shall evaluate the song verse by verse. but on my take, " amy " is referring to britney herself. this is the first verse;

Is she in the bathroom, is she smokin’ up outside?

For the drink that ima buy her do you know just what she likes? Oh.
looking at the first line, it simply means where is britney. now, possibly, this means that the paparazzi are constantly searching for britney. the next line can refer to alot of things. " is she is the bathroom " might be referring to her video " everytime " which shows her in the bathroom in a bathtub. " is she smoking up ouside " refers to britney's habit of smoking. because the paparazzi has caught her smoking. the next two line refers to the people constantly asking things about her.

The first line refers to the people who are always following her and if britney tries to hide, they would ask that question. the second line that goes " i cant get her off of my brain " is about the fans who are always thinking about her, like me. then the third line is about following her and doing whatever she is doing. the fourth line is giving up in following her because the bodyguards are always so good at hiding her. the last line has no meaning, hahaha.

The first two lines is about britney lying about her whereabouts, usually to not allow the paparazzis from following her because the second line says " I don't know where or when and now they're closing up the club " meaning they cant find where she is. the third line is referring to the same people stalking britney and she recognizes these people. the last line talks about the amount of people who are constantly wanting to know her.

This part is from britney's perspective. it shows that she doesnt care what the tabloid says and what the haters say because they " cant see what i see ".

This is basically about the people looking for and wondering what she wears and what she really is like. the third line talks about the paparazzis waiting for her to come out of her hotel, house, etc. then the fourth means something like you would for her too " if you knew if she was going out of line " .

this is the chorus. the first line says that you can love britney or hate her and just say what you want about her. the third line means almost the same except that you dont see what she see meaning you dont know what she is going through and you cant see through her perspective. the second and last line is about the media and the world just fcking her. you know how people would say " damn , i got fcked. " after being pranked or whatever. this is the same thing. because the media and tabloids are trying to fck her.
so that's my take on the song. i think everyone should respect every other person's opinion so love me hate me , this is what i think :D
